Aviemore & Cairngorms Holiday Eating Hot Spots

Some Place to eat in the south side of the Valley

Whether you're looking for excellent Scottish cooking (traditional or modern), for a tasty bar supper, an Indian, Italian or good old Fish & Chips we know where you should go – I’ve tried them all! (An arduous job but somebody had to do it). In the nearby towns of Newtonmore & Kingussie, just a few minutes’ drive away from Aviemore, there's a choice of good places to eat.

Newtonmore

The Glen Hotel : Chris & Kim provide excellent, good value food either in their bar or their separate non-smoking area. Be warned, if you go for the Starter Combo for two from the Specials Board –don't order a big main course!!

The Highlander Hotel : welcomes non residents and has a Highland Night some nights that is good value for an all inclusive price

The Braeriach Hotel : another source of good pub grub - at the bar or in a pleasant setting away from the main bar if you prefer

The Garden Cafe : In Newtonmore Craft Centre - open through the day (9am to 5pm) for teas, coffees (fresh ground from the bean), home baking and a great selection of value lunches

The Chef's Grill - on the outskirts of town - is open from early till late - good fast food - a favourite with truckers

Kingussie

The Cross : Really special food for that really special evening out – a rare treat lies in store for you in Katie & David's caring hands.

The Columba House Hotel : Bill & Myra offer a good traditional Scottish menu, served in a smart casual atmosphere.

The Silver Fjord next to the Train Station is a great for eating and drinking, it’s the main shinty bar.

The Happy Days Chip Shop is the best in the Cairngorms for Cod and Chips...a must on a cold night

In Aviemore

You'll find a good selection of eateries all of which are well worth a visit too:

The Rowan Tree : Close to Loch Alvie in a lovely rural setting, serving great food.

The Skiing Doo : Great atmosphere, great grub & great steaks!

Harkai's : John & Elizabeth's Fish & Chips & other things, all par excellence.

La Taverna : A very popular Italian.

Royal Tandoori : Excellent Indian with a large menu of great dishes to suit all tastes.
